Chinese adverbs

We will study six of the most important Chinese adverbs used in everyday conversations. These adverbs are basically a combination of two main adverbs: (yě) and (dōu).



also/too

subject +  + predicate
是中国人
Wǒ yě shì zhōngguó rén
I am also Chinese



也不
yě bù
neither/not

subject + 也不 + predicate
也不是中国人
Wǒ yě bù shì zhōngguórén
I'm not Chinese



dōu
both/all/entirely

subject +  + predicate
他们是中国人
Tāmen dōu shì zhōngguórén
They are all Chinese



都不
dōu bù
none/neither

subject + 都不 + predicate
他们都不是中国
Tāmen dōu bù shì zhōngguórén
None of them are Chinese



也都
yě dōu
also/are also/have also

subject + 也都 + predicate
他们是中国人,
我们也都是中国人
Tāmen dōu shì zhōngguórén,
wǒmen yě dōu shì zhōngguórén
They are all Chinese,
we are also Chinese



也都不
yě dōu bù
is also not/neither

subject + 也都不 + predicate
他们都不是中国人,
我们也都不是中国人
Tāmen dōu bù shì zhōngguórén,
wǒmen yě dōu bù shì zhōngguórén
None of them are Chinese,
we are neither Chinese
